Our Sarina Netball Court Cleaning Project

Our latest Sarina netball court cleaning project took us to the Sarina Showgrounds, where we soft washed the courts used by the Sarina & District Netball Association. We treated the built-up dirt, grime and organic growth across the coloured playing surfaces before thoroughly rinsing the courts.

Outdoor sporting courts are constantly exposed to dirt, dust, rain, foot traffic and organic growth. Over time, this build-up can leave the surface looking dull, dirty and uneven.

Our latest Sarina netball court cleaning project took us to the Sarina Showgrounds, where we soft washed the courts used by the Sarina & District Netball Association. The aim was to remove the built-up grime and organic growth while treating the coloured playing surface with care.

The red, grey and white sections came up extremely well. Once the courts were rinsed and allowed to dry, the colours looked brighter, the line markings stood out clearly and the whole facility had a much cleaner appearance.

Cleaning the Netball Courts at Sarina Showgrounds

The Sarina Showgrounds is an important community facility that hosts sporting activities and local events throughout the year. With regular use and constant exposure to the weather, keeping the outdoor courts clean can be a big job.

Mackay and Sarina’s warm, humid conditions can encourage mould and algae to grow on outdoor surfaces. Dirt, dust, leaves and other organic material can also settle across the court and become harder to remove after periods of rain.

This build-up does more than affect the appearance of the courts. Organic growth may become slippery when wet, while layers of grime can hide the original colour and make the playing lines less noticeable.

A professional clean helps restore the presentation of the courts without the need to repaint or resurface areas that are still in good condition.

Why We Used Soft Washing for Sarina Netball Court Cleaning

Sports courts need to be cleaned differently from ordinary concrete. The coloured coating and painted line markings can potentially be damaged by excessive pressure or by holding a pressure-cleaning nozzle too close to the surface.

For this Sarina netball court cleaning project, we used a soft-washing treatment to help break down the mould, algae and general grime covering the playing surface.

Soft washing relies on the cleaning treatment to do much of the work. This allows us to use controlled pressure during the rinsing stage instead of trying to blast the contamination from the court.

This method was well suited to the red and grey coated areas because it allowed us to clean the surface while taking care around:

● Painted court lines

● Coloured surface coatings

● Court edges and joins

● Goal circles and centre markings

● Areas surrounding the goal posts

● Nearby seating and court infrastructure

The result was a thorough clean that brought the existing colours back to life.

Our Sarina Netball Court Cleaning Process

Cleaning a large sporting facility requires a planned approach. We worked across the courts in sections so the cleaning treatment could be applied evenly and properly rinsed.

Inspecting the Playing Surface

Before starting, we checked the condition of the courts, including the coloured coating, painted lines, joins and surrounding areas. This helped us select a cleaning method suited to the surface.

It was also important to consider how the water would move across the courts during rinsing. Controlling the water and working in sections prevented dirty runoff from being continually washed back over areas that had already been cleaned.

Applying the Soft-Wash Treatment

We applied our soft-wash treatment evenly across the playing areas. The treatment was given time to work on the organic growth and built-up grime.

Allowing the treatment to do its job reduces the amount of pressure needed during rinsing. This is particularly important when cleaning coated sporting surfaces, where an overly aggressive approach could leave marks or affect the finish.

Controlled Rinsing

After the treatment had worked, we thoroughly rinsed the courts using controlled pressure. We carefully moved the loosened grime and cleaning residue away from the playing areas.

The large red sections showed a noticeable improvement as the surface was rinsed. The grey areas also cleaned up well, and the white court markings remained clear and easy to see.

Final Inspection

Once the main clean was completed, we checked the courts for any areas needing further attention. The surface was then given a final rinse and left to dry.

Some of the photographs show the courts while they were still wet, which makes parts of the surface appear darker. Once dry, the red and grey areas had a much cleaner and more even appearance.

A Fresh Result Without Repainting

One of the best things about this job was seeing how much colour was still underneath the dirt and organic build-up.

The courts did not need to be repainted to achieve this improvement. A careful clean removed the film covering the surface and allowed the existing red, grey and white colours to stand out again.

The finished courts looked fresh, tidy and ready for the players to return. The clean surface also improved the overall presentation of the Sarina & District Netball Association facilities for players, families, volunteers and visitors.

Why Regular Sports Court Cleaning Matters

Outdoor netball, tennis and basketball courts can gradually become dirty without the change being immediately noticeable. Because the build-up happens slowly, it is often only after cleaning that the difference becomes clear.

Regular professional cleaning can help:

● Remove mould, algae and general surface grime

● Improve the overall presentation of the facility

● Keep court markings clear and visible

● Reduce heavy organic build-up

● Make future maintenance easier

● Avoid unnecessary aggressive pressure cleaning

● Maintain a welcoming area for players and visitors

How often a court should be cleaned will depend on its surroundings. Courts located near trees, shaded areas or damp ground may require more frequent attention than courts exposed to full sun.

It is a good idea to inspect outdoor courts regularly, particularly after the wet season or before the start of a new sporting season.

Commercial and Community Facility Cleaning

Despite our name, We Wash Houses Mackay cleans much more than residential properties. We also provide exterior cleaning for sporting clubs, schools, childcare centres, businesses, commercial buildings and community facilities.

Every property and surface is different, so we assess the condition and choose a cleaning method suited to the job. Depending on the surface, this may include soft washing, controlled pressure cleaning or a combination of both.

We can clean a range of outdoor areas, including:

● Netball, tennis and basketball courts

● Concrete pathways and entrances

● Car parks and loading areas

● Clubhouse exteriors

● Grandstands and seating areas

● Building walls and awnings

● Outdoor entertainment areas

● Fences and retaining walls

We can also arrange work around the operating hours of a club, school or business to reduce disruption wherever possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can netball courts be pressure cleaned?

Yes, but the method and pressure must be suited to the court coating. Excessive pressure may mark the surface or damage painted lines. We inspect the court first and may use soft washing with controlled rinsing.

What does soft washing remove from a sports court?

Soft washing can remove or greatly reduce mould, algae, dirt and other organic build-up. Permanent staining, worn coatings and existing surface damage may still be visible after cleaning.

How often should outdoor netball courts be cleaned?

This depends on shade, drainage, nearby trees, weather conditions and how heavily the courts are used. An annual inspection is a good starting point, with cleaning arranged when organic growth or general grime becomes noticeable.

How soon can the courts be used after cleaning?

The courts should remain closed until they have been thoroughly rinsed and are completely dry. Drying time will vary depending on the weather and the amount of shade across the facility.

Do you clean other types of sporting courts?

Yes. We can assess netball, basketball and tennis courts, as well as concrete areas around clubhouses and other sporting facilities.
