What Does a House Wash Actually Include? Gutters, Windows and Patios Explained

You ask for a house wash, but are the gutters included? What about the windows, the patio ceiling or that green section beside the back door?

What a house wash includes should be written in the quote. At We Wash Houses Mackay, an exterior wash can cover the walls, eaves, fascias and outside faces of the gutters, with window and patio work agreed as part of the scope. Clearing inside the gutters or pressure cleaning the driveway is a separate job unless it is specifically included.

The easiest way to get the result you want is to tell us which areas bother you most. We can then quote those areas clearly.

Start with the main exterior surfaces

A house wash is aimed at cleaning the outside of the building. Depending on the agreed scope and suitable access, that can include exterior walls, eaves, fascias, outside gutter faces and the accessible areas around windows.

The method needs to suit the surface. Painted weatherboards, brick, render and exposed fittings all need consideration. Tell us about loose paint, leaking windows or any area that has caused trouble before.

For an overview of what affects pricing, see our Mackay house washing price guide. A price comparison only helps when the quotes cover the same areas.

Does house washing include gutter cleaning?

Washing the outside face of a gutter is different from removing leaves and debris from inside it. Both can be described casually as gutter cleaning, which is where misunderstandings start.

If you want the internal gutter channels cleared, ask for that to be listed. Mention blocked sections, gutter guards, two-storey areas and any downpipes connected to tanks. A roof wash is also a separate service unless included in your quote.

Are the windows cleaned as well?

Basic window washing may be part of an agreed house wash. That does not mean every piece of glass, track and frame receives a separate detailed window-cleaning service.

Flyscreens and security screens affect access to the glass. We do not remove them as part of a standard wash. If you want to remove accessible screens yourself, discuss the arrangement before the booking.

Our guide to cleaning behind flyscreens explains that distinction. For a more detailed glass clean, ask about the window-cleaning service.

What happens to the patio?

Patio walls and ceilings can be included in your house-washing quote. Tell us how many covered areas you have and whether there is a large patio at both the front and rear.

A floor rinse after washing is different from a full pressure clean designed to remove build-up from the floor. If the concrete or pavers also need attention, request that separately so there is time and the right equipment allocated.

A quick guide to the areas worth checking

  • Gutters: outside faces, internal debris removal, or both?
  • Windows: basic exterior washing or a separate detailed clean?
  • Patios: walls and ceilings, a floor rinse, or full floor pressure cleaning?
  • Roof and solar panels: separately listed if you want them cleaned.
  • Driveway, fences and detached sheds: include these in your enquiry rather than assuming they come with the house.

For example, driveway cleaning can be quoted alongside a house wash. The two areas still need their own defined scope.

Will every mark disappear?

A wash can remove suitable dirt and biological growth, but it cannot replace damaged paint or repair the building. Bat droppings, red dirt, oxidation and some long-standing stains may not be completely removed.

Point out those marks when asking for the quote. It is better to discuss the likely result before the booking than expect every surface to return to its original condition.

Common house-washing questions

Do I need to move outdoor furniture?

Ask us which areas need clearing. Move small loose items where practical, and tell us about heavy furniture, outdoor electronics, ceiling fans and anything that needs special care.

Do I need to be home?

That can be discussed when booking. Access to the agreed areas, water supply, closed windows and doors, and arrangements for pets need to be settled first.

What if a window sometimes leaks?

Tell us before work begins. Read our guide to house washing and water getting inside so the concern can be included in the plan.
